Chanceford Hall Bed & Breakfast – Matthew & Shae Von Marsh

Chanceford Hall Bed & Breakfast is a beautiful historic mansion that captures the essence of Maryland. Matthew and Shae Von Marsh took a leap by buying the property in January of 2021 and moved from Orlando, FL to Snow Hill with their two sons in the middle of the pandemic. Chanceford Hall is 263 years old and began being run as a B&B in the 1980s. Matthew and Shae are the 17th owners of Chanceford Hall and the 5th to run as boutique hotel proprietors.

All the guests of Chanceford Hall get to enjoy an experience of a lifetime, traveling back in time with the whimsical decor, scenery, and details throughout the stay that make you feel special. Upon arrival, Matthew and Shae offer a cocktail hour to meet their guests personally. A gourmet three-course breakfast is offered each morning before visitors embark on adventures for the day. The acre grounds allow for guests to play lawn games outside like croquet and horseshoes, sit by the huge fire pit, or get cozy on the hammock under magnolia trees. More guest entertainment includes the 30′ lap pool and under the porte-cochere, a pool table, and darts.

Chanceford Hall is an inviting experience with personalized customer service, rich history, gourmet meals, and beautiful accommodations. After taking on the B&B in 2021, Matthew and Shae say, “We have come to love our home and community. We are excited to share the beauty and rich history of Chanceford Hall with our guests and strive to exceed traditional expectations while having fun and building a lifetime of memories.”

Oaked 110 Whiskey & Wine Bar – Heather Welch

Oaked 110 is a locally owned, full-service restaurant and bar. They are located in the heart of downtown Snow Hill with a strong focus on whiskey and bourbon. Heather Welch, a Snow Hill local and her family opened the establishment in October of 2020, deciding to raise her family in the area after a brief move to Virginia Beach.

For five years prior to opening, Heather and her family talked about opening their own restaurant. They spent much time walking around downtown looking for vacant buildings and originally began renovating the building at 110 W Green Street, which is where Oaked 110 got its name. Now, the popular establishment provides the ultimate dining experience. You can enjoy bourbon, whiskey, and specialty cocktails, plus an array of menu options, brunch on Sunday mornings, and live entertainment in their outdoor seating area on weekends.

“We focus heavily on customer service and the quality of our food,” Heather says. “We want our customers to have the best possible dining experience.” Oaked 110 is constantly making improvements to its location. They are excited for more events this summer and more chances to help other local businesses grow and succeed as well.

Tides & Vine – Chelsea Remines

Tides & Vine is a wine and craft beer bar with vintage items and antiques for sale. The unique space provides a cozy, friendly atmosphere and has a copper bar with eclectic decor. The new business was opened in October of 2021 by Chelsea Remines, who grew up on the Eastern Shore. Opening a neighborhood bar felt very natural to her after vast experience in the service industry in a variety of places across the country.

Chelsea has a passion for antiques and vintage items and feels that Tides & Vine is an extension of herself—a place with all of the things she loves, wine and beer included. When she was able to purchase the lovely location originally from 1900, she was able to make her dream a reality. Vintage wingback chairs, velvet couches, chairs, plants, and antiques fill the space for customers to enjoy while browsing an ever-changing selection of wines from all over the world and a great variety of craft and local beer.

The clientele makes the work fun as Tides & Vine hosts private events, monthly candle-making workshops, and is always working on providing fun new experiences for the community to enjoy. “Tides & Vine has been a dream come true and we are so incredibly thankful that our friends and neighbors in Snow Hill have been so supportive,” Chelsea says. “We really feel embraced by the community and are honored to have become such a favored local spot.”

At Worcester County Economic Development, we love getting to know all of our local businesses and seeing them thrive. Thank you to Chanceford Hall, Oaked 110, and Tides & Vine for bringing such a great presence to our community in Snow Hill, MD!
