Holiday Sale words surrounded by leaves and acorns

Holiday Promotion Ideas for Small Businesses in Worcester County

Do you have holiday promotions ready for the upcoming holiday season? From festive events to local discounts, the upcoming months offer a great opportunity for marketing your small business. Check out the promotional ideas we’ve put together at Worcester County Economic Development, to help boost your sales and make the most out of this festive time!

Specials Through Visit Maryland

Maryland Tourism’s Welcome Home for the Holidays advertising campaign will drive potential visitors to the Deals & Discounts Page on VisitMaryland.org.  To ensure your business, event and/or deal is accessible to these travel decision-makers, claim or update your listings through Visit Maryland’s self- entry portal database.  Sign in directly here and follow the prompts to create username/password or reset it.

Holiday Events

Consider hosting special holiday events at your business. Whether it’s a holiday dinner at your restaurant or sidewalk sales at your retail store, these festivities can draw in a large crowd and drive sales. Offer attendees refreshments, entertainment, and exclusive discounts to make your business even more memorable.

Social Media Contests and Giveaways

Increase brand awareness with engaging social media contests. Create fun and engaging giveaways or games that require participants to follow your page, like certain posts, repost on their own pages, or comment to win. You could make these contests holiday-themed in the way you promote them or with what you’re actually giving away, creating excitement and participation among your social media followers.

Holiday Discounts

Offering discounts to holiday shoppers is an effective way to attract their attention. This could include “early bird shopper” discounts for those that start their holiday shopping early, or a “12 Days of Deals” leading up to Christmas for those last-minute customers. Planning and promoting seasonal discounts on specific holidays and offering products and services related to those days can also help drive your sales this season.

Donations

One impactful way to celebrate the holidays and boost sales is through charitable initiatives.  Consider running a “Buy One, Give One” promotion, where you highlight that for each product purchased from you, you’ll give one to a person in need. You could also host a “Proceeds Night” where a certain percentage of your sales from a given time period are donated to a charity of your choosing. These deals not only help those less fortunate but they also resonate positively with consumers.

Limited Edition Holiday Products

Introducing limited edition holiday products, and marketing them as exclusive or must-have items that won’t be around for long, will create exclusivity and entice consumers to buy them. Use phrases like “limited edition” or “act now or you’ll miss out” to create a sense of urgency among consumers, driving them to make a purchase.

Collaborate With Other Businesses

Consider teaming up with other local businesses for joint sales and brand awareness! You can incorporate any of the previous promotional ideas that we mentioned but feature other businesses with them. Giveaways with baskets featuring products from different local stores, offering bundled products from multiple businesses, or hosting joint holiday events are all great examples of collaboration that can positively impact all participating businesses.
