The owners, Lisa and her business partner, Bonnie have a unique background that adds to the inn’s character. With over 14 years of successful business partnership as realtors, Bonnie and Lisa knew they shared a passion for creating memorable experiences and had hopes of operating a bed & breakfast.
Their journey toward the River House Inn began in 2019 when they started searching for the perfect spot. Though the COVID pandemic created some delays, they finally discovered Snow Hill and fell in love with the town’s charm, with features that checked all of the boxes they wanted in a community: traditions, festivals, access to nature, and bodies of water. After six months of renovations, both in the historic main house and four guest buildings on the property, they proudly opened their doors to guests in June 2023.
As a bed and breakfast inn, the River House Inn offers a comfortable and elegant experience with breakfast included, of course, featuring their famous waffles. Guests can enjoy amenities like the pool and outdoor kitchen, or the peaceful ambiance of the Pocomoke River just steps away from the inn.
What truly distinguishes the River House Inn is its commitment to superior customer service. Bonnie and Lisa, along with Bonnie’s brother, Joe—affectionately referred to as “River House Joe”, go the extra mile to ensure that guests have a memorable stay. “Part of our guests’ experience is to introduce them to Snow Hill and the surrounding community…” Lisa says. “With that in mind, we try to offer our local suggestions on things to do in the area.”
Looking ahead, the River House Inn has exciting plans in store. They envision hosting weddings, as the property has a rich history of being a wedding venue. Additionally, they are exploring partnerships with local touring companies to offer exclusive getaways such as biking trips, kayak excursions, and writer’s conferences.
