Best friends Mark Pugh and Chris Shanahan opened up the K-Coast Surf Shop doors in 1989. The storefront the first summer in business was held in a 600 square foot building and was originally called “Kookaburra Coast.” Over the last three decades, their store transformed into a destination storefront that visitors and surfers come to.
K-Coast now has three store locations in Ocean City, Maryland and one store in Cape Charles, Virginia. They sell state of the art surf boards, wet suits, apparel for women, men and kids, footwear, gifts, and more! The shop also offers surf lessons, board rentals, and ding repair.
