Driving Small Business Forward Grant
Progressive Insurance offers this small business grant to fund a commercial vehicle for 10 Black-owned small businesses! The number one commercial auto insurer in the US created this initiative to alleviate the challenges entrepreneurs may face in gaining capital.
Video Lottery Terminal Fund (VLT)
Did you know that you can get funding from your business through slot machines? It’s true! In the State of Maryland, six participating casinos contribute proceeds from their video lottery terminals (slots) to add to their VLT Fund. These are set up for small and minority or women-owned businesses to apply for. Find one in your area.
The Maryland Agricultural Education and Rural Development Assistance Fund (MAERDAF)
The MAERDAF supports rural nonprofit service providers by giving capacity-building funds.
The application process includes two phases starting with a letter of intent and then an invitation to phase two. The grant program’s cap is $45,000 without a match necessary but it is recommended.
The Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF)
Similar to the MAERDAF, the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund has a two-phase application process. The RMPIF supports the Rural Maryland Council, rural entrepreneurship development, rural infrastructure projects, and rural healthcare organizations. This funding requires a match. 75% will be matched for infrastructure, 50% will be matched for healthcare, and 25% will be matched for entrepreneurship.
