Transportation Networks
- Road: The historic Route 50 transcontinental highway runs from Ocean City to Sacramento, CA. The County is served by U.S. 13/113 to Maine and through Virginia’s Eastern Shore and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel to Norfolk.
- Rail: Maryland & Delaware Railroad, Norfolk Southern Railway, and Bay Coast Railroad Truck.
- Freight: More than 70 local and long-distance trucking carriers are located on the lower shore.
- Water: Maryland’s Coast is served by three deep water ports: Ocean City commercial harbor, Port of Salisbury (14’ channel), and Port of Baltimore (50’ channel).
- Air: Salisbury-Ocean City-Wicomico Regional Airport (SBY) offers daily flights to/from Philadelphia and Charlotte via American Airlines. The Ocean City Municipal Airport serves the general aviation community with two runways, 3,200’ and 4,070’.
