After working from home as a graphic designer for 10+ years, Lisa took the plunge and became a commercial real estate owner when she purchased a three-story building in Downtown Pocomoke. With a VLT loan to purchase the $125,000 property and a Maryland Historical Trust grant to upgrade the electric, she set her sights on converting the 100 year old building into a vibrant commercial and office space.
Thanks to a big dose of sweat equity from family and friends, Lisa successfully moved Smart Graphics, her design business, into the new building. Today, she manages a full-service marketing firm from an expansive second floor office overlooking Market Street where she also runs the 160-member Pocomoke Area Chamber of Commerce. Plans are in the works for a ground-level gift and coffee shop.
