Succession Planning. Quality Control. Tailored Training. Talent Pipeline. These are just a few of many benefits of being a Registered Apprenticeship sponsor from an employer’s perspective. My name is Alicia Dennis, Apprenticeship Navigator for the Maryland Department of Labor, Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning, serving businesses in Wicomico, Worcester, & Somerset counties. Our regional team markets, develops, administers, and monitors structured registered apprenticeship training programs and youth apprenticeship employers within our assigned geographical areas to produce a credentialed, skilled workforce that benefits both workers and employers. If you’re interested in learning more about apprenticeships, adult and/or youth, feel free to connect with me at alicia.dennis@maryland.gov, or 410-546-6817.

Career Coaches have become an integral part of Worcester County Public Schools over the past three years through the support of the Maryland Blueprint for Education, Pillar 3: College and Career Readiness.
Our role is to bridge the gap between education and the workforce by connecting students with meaningful career exploration and work-based learning opportunities. We partner with local businesses to coordinate job shadows, internships, apprenticeships, career fairs, workplace tours, guest speakers, and other experiences that help students explore career pathways and develop the skills needed for future success.
Our partnerships are designed to benefit businesses as well. Career Coaches can promote employment opportunities to students throughout our schools at no cost and help connect employers with candidates who align with their workforce needs. We work closely with students to understand their career interests, monitor their progress, and identify those who have demonstrated strong attendance, academic performance, employability skills, and industry credentials, including certifications earned through Worcester Technical High School.
Together, we can strengthen our local workforce by helping students discover rewarding careers while supporting the hiring needs of Worcester County businesses.
